A Washington County man was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly stabbed his father to death.
The Washington County dispatch received a call for a reported stabbing at 24 Sunshine Lane in Big Lake Township around 10:42 a.m., according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
When officials with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responders arrived, 62-year-old Darren Laney Sr. was found dead at the residence, Moss said.
Darren Laney Jr., 36, was arrested shortly after in Indian Township in connection to Darren Laney Sr.’s death, and is being held at the Washington County Jail.
The Maine State Police are investigating the circumstances of the death.
