A Corinna man died late last week after crashing into a deep farm pond.

The 50-year-old man apparently veered off Center Road in Corinna sometime Friday evening, going through a fence and a stand of apple trees before crashing into a deep farm pond, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was discovered about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office said Monday.

A dive team recovered the man’s body, and he was the only person in the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was released.
