Bellabooks in downtown Belfast announced Monday it is closing.
One of four bookstores in the midcoast city, Bellabooks sells both new and used books in an 1895 building that looks like a barn.
“We are sad to say Bellabooks in Belfast is closing this week forever. We have loved every minute of these 14 years in Belfast and will miss everyone tremendously,” owners Kim Zahares and Gary Guida wrote in a Facebook post Monday morning.
Followers on the social media site expressed sadness in comments on the post, calling the bookstore a favorite.
Zahares and Guida couldn’t be reached for comment.
Originally located on High Street, Bellabooks moved to Pendleton Alley in 2018 after being unexpectedly evicted, according to the PenBay Pilot.
