A woman from Lewiston is facing federal charges stemming from a gunrunning case in California.

Elise Bergeron, 24, is charged with lying to a federal officer about not knowing a suspect accused of illegally buying guns in Maine to sell in California, according to the Sun Journal.

Bergeron knew the suspect, Anthony Coleman, as well as another woman from Maine, Jennifer Scruggs, according to an affidavit from an officer working the case.

Scruggs, who’s from Turner, allegedly bought 55 guns for resale in Los Angeles.

She later admitted to buying the guns for Coleman, who was banned from owning guns, and another man.

Bergeron is currently out on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

Scruggs is facing 10 felony charges for illegal straw gun purchases.
