A winter storm ramping up Wednesday morning has brought hurricane-force winds off the coast of Maine.

A high wind warning remains in effect for much of Maine through Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm conditions blowing across the state has caused another round of flooding in a number of communities, with much of southern Maine underwater on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, a mix of snow and rain continued to fall in The County, with residents waking up to howling winds and snow drifts.

Here’s what communities across Maine look like right now:

Bangor

Portland and South Portland

The weather service warned that the Penobscot River was expected to reach flood stage in Bangor, with the biggest risk to the riverfront and Kenduskeag Plaza. Meanwhile, the causeway connecting Deer Isle and Little Deer Isle was closed because of flooding, and other roads along the coast in southern Maine have been submerged by the Atlantic Ocean.

Snow and rain totals weren’t immediately available Wednesday morning.
