A large fire Sunday morning destroyed a vacant commercial building in downtown Millinocket and injured two firefighters.

Several fire department crews responded to the fire on Penobscot Avenue at around 7:30 a.m., according to News Center Maine. Heavy flames were coming from the former bank building when they arrived.

Two firefighters were brought to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries, according to News Center.

Millinocket Fire Chief Jonathan Cote told the TV station that the building was deemed a total loss. The town office building and other nearby businesses were also damaged.

The building destroyed at 181 Penobscot Ave. is currently on the market for $489,900, according to online listings.
