A Presque Isle man died after a medical emergency caused him to crash his vehicle into a building Friday evening, according to police.

The crash happened at roughly 6:30 p.m. on Cleaves Road. The driver, 39-year-old Richard Prue, suffered a “major medical event” that led to his vehicle leaving the road, striking a building and rolling back across the road and into a field, according to a statement from the Presque Isle Police Department.

Prue collapsed after crashing. Police and the property owner tried to render aid until emergency medical personnel arrived, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
