An 18-year-old man from Detroit, Maine, died early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Burnham.

Police learned of the crash at 5:13 a.m.

Based on an initial investigation, the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said Paul Raye Jr. was driving a 2006 Saab 9-2X on Winnecook Road when he failed to navigate a curve in the roadway and hit a large tree.

He died at the scene from the impact, according to the sheriff’s office. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
