The Coast Guard located the body of a kayaker that took off from Bar Harbor Saturday.
According to a statement from the U.S. Coast Guard, the kayaker departed from their residence in Bar Harbor at about 4:30 p.m. and was reported missing by 8 p.m.
A two-hour search of the area included a helicopter and boat. Rescuers located an unresponsive person matching the description of the missing kayaker floating in the water in a life jacket. Despite resuscitation attempts, the person was pronounced dead.
The Maine Department of Marine Resources identified the deceased as Dennis Webber, 73, of Colorado Springs.
