Big G’s Deli in Winslow announced on its website that it had closed as of Sunday, July 14.

Opened in 1986, the deli, named for founder and co-owner Gerald Michaud, Jr., became a central Maine mainstay on the strength of its large freshly baked rolls and endless sandwich toppings.

The bread was so popular that in 2016 Michaud opened another establishment in Waterville to highlight it. Toast Xpress closed after 10 months.

No additional information on why the deli closed was immediately available.
