Four people were injured in a Tuesday night  shooting in Portland.

The Portland Police Department is releasing few details about the status of the victims, details about the investigation or if any arrests have been made.

The shooting happened on Forest Avenue, near Morrill’s Corner. Multiple witnesses in the area say they heard lots of loud bangs around 8:45 p.m. Two witnesses said they heard as many as seven gunshots.

The victims were taken to Maine Medical Center.

There were concerns that the shooting happened in the Brass Rail Bar or Samuel’s Bar and Grill, but that was not the case. They said their staff and customers were safe and unharmed.

Investigators were on the scene all night gathering evidence and questioning witnesses, and wrapped up their investigation at the scene before 9 a.m. Wednesday and Forest Avenue was reopened. The recommendation to shelter in place has been lifted as well.

The Portland Police Department said it will provide updates to the public as the case allows.

The investigation is ongoing.
