A homeowner was injured and two houses were destroyed after an explosion in Sinclair Saturday evening.

Firefighters responded to the report of an explosion at 441 Shore Road at about 7 p.m., according to a press release from Maine State Police spokesperson Shannon Moss. The homeowner, who was inside the residence at the time, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. An adjacent home also caught fire due to the explosion, and a resident inside of that home escaped without injury.

Both homes are considered a total loss, Moss said.

Investigation into what caused the explosion is ongoing.
