Northeastern University officially broke ground on the Roux Institute in Portland on Friday morning.

The project includes a graduate campus and a new research facility, which are set to be built at the site of the former B&M Baked Beans factory.

It’s been a controversial project, with 30 people weighing in with their traffic concerns back in June at a planning meeting.
