A man allegedly shot a woman Saturday evening in Clinton.
Andrew Fertig, 69, has been charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, according to Officer Mike Conners, a spokesperson for the Clinton Police Department.
Fertig allegedly shot the woman in the neck about 6 p.m. at a Hill Road home. Fertig was quickly arrested at the scene, Conners said Sunday.
The woman, whose identity isn’t being released, was airlifted to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where she was expected to survive her injuries.
After his arrest, Fertig was taken to the hospital because of his “extremely high blood alcohol content” before being transferred to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta.
He is being held at the jail pending his initial court appearance.
The shooting remains under investigation, and no additional details are being released at this time.
