Skeletal remains have been found in Jay.
Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, confirmed Sunday morning that the Maine State Police is assisting the Jay Police Department with its investigation.
Moss said in an email that the remains are “possibly human,” but the Maine medical examiner’s office hasn’t confirmed that yet.
The remains were discovered near Elm Street on Saturday, Moss told the Bangor Daily News.
Additional information wasn’t immediately available Sunday morning.
