Longtime WKIT Morning Show host Bobby Russell, seen here in 2015.

WKIT 100.3 FM and other Zone Corp. radio stations have for decades been the soundtrack to the lives of many residents of eastern Maine, so when the news broke this week that owner Stephen King would be shutting down the stations at the end of this month, it prompted a big public response.

For longtime listeners in Maine, we want to know: what are some of your favorite memories of WKIT, WZON and WZLO? What made you love listening to “the rock of Bangor” for all these years? What will you miss most about it when it goes off the air?

Share your thoughts, memories and stories below. We’ll publish a follow up story in the coming weeks, ahead of WKIT and the other stations going off the air on Dec. 31.
