Fire that closed Main Street in Old Town has been extinguished

A house fire that closed Main Street in Old Town on Tuesday morning was quickly extinguished, WABI reported.

One person was inside the house but managed to escape and call 911, according to the station.

Main Street, also known as Route 2, between St. Joseph Cemetery and the Regency trailer park was closed while firefighters worked at the scene, a Penobscot County emergency dispatcher told the Bangor Daily News.

Old Town Fire Chief Kyle Milan told WABI that the department does not yet know the cause of the fire, but the home can be saved.
