At least one building was destroyed in a fire at a Machias motel on Tuesday evening.

According to WABI, at least one of the buildings at the Bluebird Motel was seriously damaged in the fire that broke out around 9 p.m. The fire damaged the front of the motel, while avoiding a number of other rooms in the back of the building, WABI reported.

The manager was able to call 911 and evacuate all the guests safely when the fire broke out. At least three people, along with the manager, were treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Route 1 was closed on Tuesday evening as firefighters doused the flames. The Maine fire marshal’s office is investigating the circumstances of the fire.
