A head-on crash on Friday afternoon in Orrington left three people seriously injured.

The crash was reported at about 4:40 p.m. on Route 15 near Hatfield Road, according to the Penobscot Sheriff’s Office.

Based on an initial investigation, the sheriff’s office said a lone female driver in a 2009 Ford F-150 was traveling south when she crossed the center line at high speed and hit a 2023 Toyota Sedan occupied by a male and female.

The vehicles collided head-on, forcing the sedan off the road and into a tree. The truck came to rest facing north in the northbound lane, the sheriff’s office said.

Police did not immediately identify the people involved in the crash.

All three occupants were taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
