Drivers in the vicinity of Odlin Road in Hampden who see flames over the next few days should pause before calling 911.

A company in the area of 1200 Odlin Road will be burning off propane, the Professional Firefighters of Hermon, IAFF 5458 said in a Facebook post.

“While this may look concerning as you drive past and see tall flames but know that this is a normal operation and is monitored by personnel on location,” the firefighters’ union said.

The union did not identify the company or say why they are burning off propane.

A dispatcher at the Penobscot Regional Communications Center said they had not been given details but were told it would be in the area between Dysart’s and Interstate 95.
