A stretch of South Main Street in Brewer was closed on Tuesday evening for an incident after a trailer being towed behind a dump truck flipped over.

The Brewer Fire Department posted a notice on Facebook of the closure between South Brewer Drive and Elm Street at 4:30 p.m. The road remained closed shortly after 5 p.m.

Traffic was being detoured up South Brewer Drive. Brewer police and fire departments were at the scene along with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

A worker at the scene declined to provide any details or a timeline for when the road would reopen, saying the incident is under investigation.
