PITTSBURG, New Hampshire — A Maine boy was injured after he drove his snowmobile off a bridge and into an embankment in New Hampshire over the weekend.

New Hampshire Fish and Game says a snowmobile went off a bridge on Perry Stream Road in Pittsburg around 1:10 p.m. on Saturday.

According to wardens, a juvenile boy from Maine was operating a snowmobile on Primary Trail 140 when he lost control of his snowmobile, causing him to drive off the bridge and into an embankment.

The boy was kept warm at the scene by a good Samaritan. Wardens say the juvenile was initially taken to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook but due to the extent of his injuries, he was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center by helicopter for further treatment.

The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

Wardens say inexperience, inattention and speed appear to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
