Last week, I noted with dismay, disappointment, and shock — but with no surprise — that President Donald Trump turned a national tragedy into a junk show of trashing his predecessors and throwing shade on our country’s air traffic controllers.
At his press conference with full national coverage, instead of comforting grieving families who need sympathy, answers and assurances, our president chose instead to hammer former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama as well as the professionals who guide thousands of aircraft to a safe landing each day.
I am ashamed for our nation that this person is now our spokesperson and supposed role model. His ego, his greed, and his insatiable need for revenge and retribution should never, ever, become a “new normal” that we ignore.
