The Bangor airport will add seasonal flights to and from Detroit this summer.
Delta Airlines will launch new seasonal service connecting the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and the Bangor International Airport beginning on June 14, according to Jose Saavedra, director of the Bangor International Airport.
The flights will happen once weekly on Saturdays throughout the summer and run through Labor Day, Saavedra said. However, there will be increased daily service from June 28 to July 6 to accommodate increased travel over the Fourth of July.
Saavedra announced the new flights in a meeting of the Bangor City Council’s Business and Economic Development Committee on Monday.
“This expansion reflects Delta’s continued investment in Bangor and strengthens our commitment to growing air service options for our community,” Saavedra wrote in a memo to councilors.
The new seasonal flights follow a recent wave of expanded flights to new destinations from the Queen City. In December 2024, Delta announced it will begin weekly seasonal service from Bangor to Atlanta in June 2025. Breeze Airlines launched at the Bangor airport in October 2024, offering flights to three Florida cities: Orlando, Tampa and Fort Myers.
“These flights not only provide direct destinations, but access to hundreds of connecting flights worldwide that increase accessibility to a variety of travel options for passengers,” said Aimee Thibodeau, spokesperson for the Bangor International Airport.
While seasonal flights to new destinations aren’t uncommon, Thibodeau said airport leadership is “in constant communication with airlines” in hopes of expanding options for Bangor travelers in the future.
Bangor International Airport also offers year-round service to New York, Newark, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, as well as seasonal service to Chicago, Charlotte and Atlanta.
