A Massachusetts man died from a gunshot wound at a house in the Somerset County town of Palmyra early Wednesday morning.

The shooting was reported at about 1:33 a.m. at a house on Madawaska Road, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.

Somerset County deputies found 28-year-old Jaquan Humphries of Mattapan, Massachusetts, dead inside. He had been living at the house, Moss said.

After an autopsy, his cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no known danger to the public, Moss said.
