The Maine aerospace company bluShift is testing out a rocket engine in Brunswick this afternoon.

The 4 p.m. Friday test of the company’s next-generation hybrid rocket engine is part of bluShift’s goal of building a rocket manufacturing facility in the town and launching rockets off the Maine coastline.

Since 2016, bluShift has been building and working on launching rockets that are powered with biofuels. Its eventual goal is to carry small experiments and satellites to space.

The Brunswick company is aiming to get to space by mid-2025.
