A man pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter for shooting and killing a man in Waterville.
Tyler Quirion, 21, of Waterville pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Justin Iraola as part of a plea deal with the state.
Quirion had initially been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
According to prosecutors, on Feb. 19, 2024, Quirion shot Iraola multiple times at close range with a 9 mm handgun.
The Kennebec Journal reported Iraola was shot and killed while intervening in a fistfight after a party on Grove Street.
Quirion will continue to be held without bail and is expected to be sentenced in the next 60 days.
