Northern Light Pharmacy is almost ready to move into its new home.

The pharmacy will move to 364 State St., at the corner of Otis Street, across from Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Northern Light Health announced Wednesday morning.

It will open in that new space on May 21.

“While our current location has served us well, our new location will allow for better customer service and operational efficiency,” Matt Marston, vice president and chief pharmacy officer, said in a Wednesday statement.

Northern Light Health says the new building will better meet the needs of customers and pharmacy staff. The pharmacy will have better parking, an improved drive-thru and private spaces for consultations.

Construction began last year.

Northern Light Pharmacy was formerly Miller Drug. Miller Drug opened its State Street location, at the corner of Forest Avenue, in 1957. Before that it was a variety store, which opened in 1939.

Miller Drug merged with Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems in 2010. When Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems rebranded as Northern Light Health in 2018, it was renamed Northern Light Pharmacy.
