A 79-year-old man died on Wednesday afternoon after his car went off the road in the Washington County town of Milbridge.
The single-vehicle crash on Route 1 was reported at about 2:23 p.m., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.
An initial investigation suggested that Clyde Samuelson Jr., of Columbia, was driving east on Route 1 in a 2011 Ford pickup when the truck left the road on the north side and went into a ditch between Route 1 and the Sunrise Trail, Moss said.
First responders tried life-saving procedures on Samuelson but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Moss said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
