Stockton Springs will appoint a new town manager later this month, nearly half a year after firing the last person to hold the role on a permanent basis.
Waldo resident Sadie Lloyd Mudge will become the town manager, the Stockton Select Board announced at its meeting Monday.
Lloyd Mudge’s formal appointment is scheduled to take place at a special Select Board meeting on May 20. She is due to begin serving in mid-June.
“I am excited to be engaged in Stockton. It seems like a great community,” Lloyd Mudge said. “I plan to have the same open communication that you’ve had with [interim Town Manager] John [Bellino] and look forward to meeting everybody and working with everybody. I have a very forward-looking approach, but also very much honoring long-term roots in communities.”
Lloyd Mudge previously worked as a city planner for Belfast and runs her own agriculture-related business.
“I really care about small Maine towns, having roots here,” she said. “I think Stockton Springs has a lot of energy and heart and potential, and those are the best places to work.”
The Select Board wouldn’t disclose how much Lloyd Mudge will be paid. Bellino’s weekly salary as interim town manager is $1,280 for the 32 hours a week that the office is open, which would total around $66,000 over an entire year.
Loren Cole held the position as a temporary town manager between Jan. 7 and 28 after the Select Board fired Mac Smith on Dec. 31, 2024.
Bellino assumed the position of interim town manager on Jan. 29. He will remain in place until June 14, when he will begin working for the town of Skowhegan.
“I’m looking forward to [Sadie] taking over, and I think she’s going to be a valuable asset to the community,” Bellino said.
The town received between 26 and 30 applicants for the position, according to Bellino.
Correction: An earlier version of this report misstated when Lloyd Mudge will take over for Bellino in the town manager role.
