Electric power was back on Sunday afternoon for some 10,500 customers in Aroostook County who experienced an outage earlier in the day.
Originally believed to be a power feed loss from Canada, Versant Power crews discovered a fault in a line near the Canadian border and were able to return power by about 12:30 p.m., according to Versant spokesperson Marissa Minor.
The outage, which affected an estimated 25 percent of Versant’s customers in Aroostook County, included Fort Kent, Frenchville, Madawaska, St. Agatha and surrounding towns.
The power outage was initially reported around 10:15 a.m.
