Police arrested a Farmington man on Tuesday afternoon for allegedly shooting a woman in the face in what police believe was an isolated domestic violence altercation.

At 1:54 p.m., the Franklin County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a person had been shot and wounded inside a house at 513 Fairbanks Road.

The caller reported that the suspect had left the house on foot.

A detective from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office found and arrested Gunthar Swan, 26, a short distance south of the home, according to the Farmington Police Department.

Swan was charged with attempted murder and domestic violence elevated aggravated assault.

The victim of the shooting, a 29-year-old woman, was found inside the Fairbanks Road home and brought to Maine Health Franklin Hospital then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

As of Tuesday evening, she was in critical condition, according to Farmington police.
