One man was killed in a traffic crash Saturday morning in Patten.
The crash on Route 11, also known as South Patten Road, happened at about 9:30 a.m. when a GMC truck made a U-turn from a scenic turnout into the path of an oncoming Dodge truck, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The GMC was hit on its driver’s side. The driver, an 82-year-old man, was fatally injured. A child who was a passenger suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.
The Dodge truck was carrying two adults and three children. All were taken to the hospital with injuries but are expected to survive, the sheriff’s office said.
