An inmate at Maine State Prison in Warren who was serving time on drug and sex offender registration counts died on Sunday morning.

Ty John Michael, 56, died at about 8:30 a.m. His death was attended by medical personnel, the state Department of Corrections said in a statement Monday night.

Michael was sentenced in May to two Class B counts related to sex offender registration and one Class C count for unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, according to prison. His earliest release date was December 2026.

The department did not disclose his cause or manner of death.
