The driver of a tanker truck transporting water was injured after his vehicle rolled over on Interstate 95 south in Old Town early Friday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 12:15 p.m. as the truck rolled over in the median near mile marker 198, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said.

The driver, Robert Pierce, 58, of Westbrook, was ejected from the truck. He was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center with injuries that Moss said were not life threatening.

Two lanes of the highway were closed as of 2:30 p.m. as workers cleaned up the area, but traffic continued to move through the area using the breakdown lane, Moss said.

The investigation is ongoing but speed is believed to be a factor, Moss said.
