Three men are on the run after an armed ATM robbery in South Portland on Monday morning.

The victim was working on a Bank of America ATM off Philbrook Avenue about 10 a.m. when three men punched and threatened to shoot him if he didn’t open the machine, according to the South Portland Police Department.

The suspects, described as three young Black men, apparently damaged the ATM’s card reader about 2 a.m. and waited to ambush the technician when he arrived to repair it, police said.

They made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The investigation is ongoing.
