Two people were rescued Friday morning after a boat capsized on Hermon Pond.

A man and boy were out on the water, near the Jackson Beach boat landing, about 10:20 a.m. when a malfunction caused their boat to capsize in shallow water, according to Hermon Fire Chief Cody Sullivan.

They were both wearing lifejackets. Neither was injured, but they were evaluated at the scene for exposure, Sullivan said.

The Hampden Fire Department and Northern Light Health’s ambulance service assisted Hermon firefighters with the rescue.
