A man died Sunday in a fire in the rural town of Avon.

The fire broke out at an Avon Valley Road property about 12:45 p.m., according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

When firefighters arrived, they found a man dead inside, Moss said Sunday night.

The victim has been tentatively identified as 37-year-old Issac Marston. The remains have been taken to the Maine medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and positive identification.

The fire remains under investigation.

Avon is northwest of Farmington.
