UPDATE: Police announced Friday evening that they had located the suspect.

A shelter-in-place order issued in North Windham on Friday as law enforcement searched for a person involved in a shooting was lifted at 7 p.m.

Maine State Police and the Windham Police Department will hold a press conference at 7:30 p.m.

The initial shooting occurred at around 1:55 p.m. Friday, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte.

At around 4:16 p.m., an emergency alert was sent to cell phones by the Citizen Alert System. According to the alert, the shooter was last seen near the Windham and Raymond town line.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office issued the shelter-in-place alert for the area from Route 302 from Route 85 in Raymond to Whites Bridge Road in Windham and surrounding side streets.

People were asked to stay indoors, keep their doors locked and report any suspicious activity.

A section of Route 302, starting at the Landing Road, was closed during the investigation.
