On July 24, the Bangor Daily News published an opinion column by Republican gubernatorial candidate James Libby, which advocated vigilance toward Chinese criminal activity in illegal marijuana operations in Maine and other states. Many of the Chinese involved are apparently illegal immigrants.

It is curious that it appears no enforcement efforts by ICE have been directed at Chinese criminal gangs. Rather, ICE has been largely detaining and deporting immigrants employed in legitimate industries such as construction, hospitality, and agriculture.

Is it too much to ask Republican leaders to demand that ICE pay attention to Chinese organized crime activity?
