A Bangor man allegedly severely beat his partner late last week.
Scott Cary, 38, has been charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
Police found the victim, who had sought help, about 11:30 p.m. Friday. The victim told police they had been beaten severely during multiple assaults earlier that day, including being slapped, punched and kicked, McAmbley said Monday.
The victim was taken to the hospital.
When approached by officers, Cary offered various scenarios to explain how the victim came to have those injuries, which police found “inconsistent with the injuries observed,” McAmbley said.
Cary, who was on probation for domestic violence convictions, was taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Monday morning.
