An Amherst man allegedly robbed and assaulted a customer at the Bangor Staples on Saturday.
Robert Boran, 64, has been charged with robbery and assault, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
The victim had placed items on the counter while using a copy machine at the Staples off Bangor Mall Boulevard when Boran allegedly grabbed the items and ran away.
The victim, a bystander and a Staples employee pursued Boran into the parking lot, where Boran allegedly assaulted the victim as the trio wrested the stolen items from him, McAmbley said Monday.
Boran then ran away, and police found him on Stillwater Avenue a short time later.
The victim suffered minor injuries.
Boran was taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Monday morning.
