The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce has named a new executive director.

Heather Seavey will take over the position on Sept. 8 from interim executive director Peter Farragher, who is the retired CEO of the Down East Family YMCA.

Seavey most recently served as Deputy Executive Director of the Maine State Bar Association.

Farragher was serving as interim executive director after P.J. Keenan resigned from the role in July after two years on the job. Keenan cited personal reasons for leaving the job, the Ellsworth American reported.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I am delighted to welcome Heather as the new

executive director” Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors member Amy D. Boles said.

“With her leadership experience, energy and vision for the chamber, we’re excited about this next chapter.”

According to the Chamber, Seavey has a dog named Ellsworth, the same as the city she will be serving starting next month.
