One person is dead after a small plane crashed into the woods in Fryeburg on Thursday.

The single-engine Czech Sport Aircraft SportCruiser went down in a wooded area about 2:30 p.m., according to a Federal Aviation Administration incident report.

The pilot was found dead at the scene, Fryeburg Police Chief Aaron Mick.

Mick said that the pilot’s identity is being withheld right now until next of kin have been notified.

The fixed-wing aircraft was registered to 336SC LLC in Jackson, New Hampshire, according to the FAA’s aircraft registry.

The LLC was created on Aug. 30, 2022, principally to hold title to an aircraft, according to the New Hampshire secretary of state’s office. The LLC is based in Hales Location, New Hampshire, about a 23 minute drive from Fryeburg.

Alkalay & Smillie PLLC, a Conway, New Hampshire-based law firm, was listed as 336SC LLC’s registered agent. Walter Schaffner, who gave a business address in Hilton Head, South Carolina, was listed as the 336SC LLC’s manager, records show.

No picked up Friday morning when a reporter called a phone number listed in the LLC’s filing.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
