The suspects wanted in connection with a burglary in Bowdoinham are now in custody, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.

Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry said a burglary happened at 91 Post Road around 7:15 a.m. Friday. It was originally reported as a criminal threatening incident.

Three suspects were then seen heading into the woods. One suspect was taken in custody a short time later, but authorities continued to search for two suspects.

Emergency officials shared a grainy photo of the suspects they were searching for.

The Bowdoinham Community School was placed in lockdown around 8:30 a.m. at the request of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office while they searched for the suspects. Class at Bowdoinham Community School was also canceled for Friday.

The lockdown at the school was lifted just before noon Friday.

“This was a difficult morning for everyone in the Bowdoinham community. When a crisis occurs, we immediately activate our safety protocols and today was a testament to the effectiveness of those plans. Our staff and crisis teams will be debriefing as soon as possible. We understand that situations like this can be unsettling. We will be sending out information on how families and students can access support. We are incredibly grateful that this situation ended with a safe resolution. All students and staff are safe,” O’Leary said.

Authorities said that all three suspects are in custody. There is no word yet on what charges they are facing or what the incident entailed.
