Maine teachers have faced probes over comments on Charlie Kirk’s killing. Educators from California to Florida have been fired or placed on leave for remarks about the assassination of the conservative activist.

Towns have stood by an Orrington trash plant through hard times. But the ongoing closure of the facility raises questions about whether those that stuck with it could eventually decide to join the 115 communities that didn’t.
