A 2020 GMC pickup truck and 2019 Volvo SUV collided about 10:38 p.m. on Route 196, near the Merrymeeting Bridge, according to the Topsham Police Department.
The preliminary investigation found that one of the vehicles crossed the centerline before the head-on collision, though police haven’t said whether the truck or SUV entered the opposite lane.

The GMC’s driver, identified Monday as 34-year-old Joseph Lemont of Bowdoin, and the Volvo’s driver, 25-year-old Lacey Wiles of Hermon, remain at Maine Medical Center in Portland. An update about their conditions wasn’t available Monday morning.
