A Massachusetts man allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and ran a red light at a Bangor intersection, causing a three-vehicle crash.
Seth McLaughlin, 40, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, has been charged with driving to endanger, failure to stop at a red light, operating after suspension and violating his conditions of release, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
McLaughlin was driving on Griffin Road about 4 p.m. Sunday when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel, ran a red light and hit a vehicle traveling through the intersection with Ohio Street.
That propelled the second vehicle into a third vehicle stopped at the intersection, McAmbley said Wednesday morning.
McLaughlin reportedly told police that he had been up since early in the morning and was taking his two kids, who were passengers in his vehicle, to their mother’s house, according to McAmbley.
He was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
Two people in the third vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while everyone else was treated at the scene.
