Mainers on Tuesday voted to create a “red flag” gun control law that came in response to the 2023 mass shooting in Lewiston.
Question 2, one of two statewide ballot questions, would expand the state’s current “yellow flag” law letting family members go directly to a court to seek an order restricting a loved one’s access to weapons.
The referendum passed with 62% voting yes to 38% voting no as of 2:45 p.m. Wednesday when more than 95% of precincts had been reported.
