A 56-year-old from Scarborough died after crashing on Interstate 95 in Pittsfield on Monday morning.

The single-vehicle crash was reported at just before 6 a.m. near mile marker 143.

Maine State Police troopers found a 2012 Subaru Impreza that had gone into the median and become lodged in the trees, state police said in a news release.

The driver, Rae Hartford, was pronounced dead at the scene. Based on a preliminary investigation, state police said speed and intoxication were likely contributing factors.

One lane of the interstate was shut down for about two hours.
